Marylebone Apartment
London
Located in the heart of Marylebone, this classical apartment was a very special restoration project to work on. Built in 1904 and set within a landmarked mansion building, it showcases elegant Edwardian features, characterised by their elegance and detail. These included beautiful bay windows, original French doors, ornate decorative floor tiles, intricate stained glass windows, timber panelling and large rooms with high ceilings. It was a joy to design to such striking proportions and craft a scheme which enhanced and honoured it’s charming features. While the meticulous restoration of its original features was a very important part of the client brief, the clients also wanted a sense of clean modernity woven throughout the home. We introduced this style particularly in the less formal areas- such as the media room and children’s bedrooms- with the use of lighter finishes, modern fabric prints and contemporary silhouettes seamlessly layered onto the classical architectural base. The result is the harmonious marriage of old and new to create an elegant, considered and welcoming family home.
